python-distlib software package provides low-level components of python distutils2/packaging, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install python-distlib
python-distlib is installed in your system.
Make ensure the python-distlib package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep python-distlib *
You will get with python-distlib package name, version, architecture and description in a table
